Our Nora

Dear friends and supporters,

With heavy hearts we have to inform you that we had to leave Honduras unexpectedly. Our baby Nora has lost a lot of weight due to several consecutive infections, and a blood test showed abnormal cells. There is a suspicion of leukaemia. After about 36 hours of travel, we have returned to Austria today to conduct further tests for clarification.

Please pray for our Norli. We know “God doesn’t make mistakes!” but we are still very worried and discouraged.

God’s blessings,

Your Hochenburgers

Impressions

Dear friend,

As many of you know, there have been issues with the mission society in RusRus. We were told that our vision was different. It is a long and sad story that has not only disappointed us, but also the village and the people in the surrounding area. However, our goal remains the same: to help people in need and show God’s love in the process. It was not easy and we often thought about ending this mission. However, the great need of the people has not left us, and therefore we want to start a new project.

Currently, we are working on some small aid projects and trying to organise the next steps. We hope to be able to help children, teenagers, and families. Further information will follow shortly.

Here are some photos from the last few weeks.

Back to Honduras

Dear friend!

The past few months have been an emotional rollercoaster for our family: from disappointment, hurt, through uncertainty, doubt, worry to recovery, encouragement and hope!

If you give your life to God it never gets boring, everything is possible! He can throw all your well-prepared and thought-out plans overboard and challenge you again in obedience and trust.

As we have often experienced, everything can change with an e-mail or a telephone call.

After long preparations on 3 different continents in 4 countries, about 1 year ago we were so happy to have finally arrived at our destination: a small village called RusRus in the remote eastern part of Honduras. We learned to love the people, culture and the country despite many challenges.

Since our family’s work was more holistic, there was unfortunately a conflict of vision with our former flight service partner, which led to a separation during our furlough. This has caused an organizational chaos for us.

Despite all the difficulties, we still feel the call to Honduras, to help people in need and to share God’s love.

Now we are back in Honduras. Initially, we will complete the previous project and end the cooperation with the former partner. Over the next few weeks we will be visiting various villages, orphanages and projects to see where we can help best. The needs are tremendous. We hope to find a good, safe place to continue our work. As soon as we know more, we will inform you.

Please pray with us for protection and clarity about the future location.

In Genesis 12:1, God tells Abram, “Get out of your country, leave your homeland and your relatives, and go to the land that I will show you!”

He didn’t tell Abraham all the details beforehand, he didn’t even know where he is going. God demanded faith, trust, and obedience, and then gave His blessing.

We want to follow this example but believe us, THIS IS NOT EASY!

We thank you for your trust, your gifts and your prayers!

By the way, we now have a new homepage with a new name.

God’s blessing,

Your Hochenburger family

Christoph, Nina, Tobias, Elia, Aaron, Elise, Nora
